Hi, Jessika and Rafael!
Don’t know who I am? I’m you, a few months from now.
I’m writing now because the year is coming to an end, and this is that
time when we take stock, even without realizing it.
I know this year had it all: good days and tough days,
achievements, changes of course, some losses, and adjustments that
came little by little. I just wanted to remind you of one
simple thing: you did the best you could with what you had. And that’s already a lot.
I also came to thank you for choices that seemed
small: saying “yes” to a break, traveling with more
mindfulness, trading a packed schedule for real time. That’s when things started to get lighter.
Today I remember places through the little details: smells, light, conversations,
laughter, and that good kind of silence. Some photos turned out beautiful, others
were blurry… And that’s okay. The best memories aren’t found in any photo album.
Time passes either way. The difference is what we
choose to do with it. If you’re in doubt, I’ll tell you
with confidence: build memories. In the end, that’s what stays with you.
With love,
Jessika and Rafael — after they went off to explore the world.
